We usually reply within 1–2 business days.

Getting started

1. Start a cover

Launch the app and press ⌘N, or choose Help ▸ Open Sample Project to explore a finished example. The New Cover Project wizard sets your platform (Amazon KDP or IngramSpark), binding, interior paper and trim size.

2. Set your page count

Enter the interior page count in Book Settings. The spine width, full‑wrap size and bleed update live — the numbers come straight from the official specs.

3. Design inside the guides

Add text and images on the canvas. The safe line and spine‑fold are enforced, and the barcode area is reserved so nothing important gets covered.

4. Export

Choose Export ▸ KDP upload PDF for a vector PDF at the exact MediaBox. The app re‑reads the file to verify its size, single page and embedded fonts before you upload.

Frequently asked questions

Which platforms and bindings are supported?

Amazon KDP and IngramSpark, in paperback, hardcover (case‑laminate) and eBook / front‑cover formats. Each binding is stored independently.

Does the app need an internet connection or account?

No. KDP Cover Studio works entirely offline. There is no account, no sign‑in and no data collection. See our Privacy Policy.

How is the spine width calculated?

From your interior page count and paper type using the official calculator method. For KDP hardcover it also adds board thickness. Values are verified against the official cover calculator; for high‑stakes projects you can import an official template to cross‑check.

Can I generate a barcode from my ISBN?

Yes. Enter your ISBN‑13 and the app generates a vector EAN‑13 barcode with check‑digit verification, placed in the reserved barcode zone. If KDP adds the barcode automatically for you, you can leave that mode selected instead.

What file does it produce?

A single‑page, print‑ready vector PDF (for eBook / front‑cover, a high‑resolution JPG/PNG). Fonts are embedded and the output is verified after export.

Can I switch the interface to Chinese?

Yes. Open Settings (⌘,) and choose Interface Language — Follow System, English, or 简体中文. Restart the app to apply.

Which macOS version is required?

macOS 14 (Sonoma) or later.
